Just had to share this

I went to check on Averie last night and this is what I found. She is a horrible sleeper. After we put her to bed each night she comes out and asks a million questions and drives me crazy. Last night she wanted to sleep with her hat that she made at preschool so I told her "whatever as long as you go to bed and stay there". We could not stop laughing when we saw her. I just had to post this. She is such a funny kid!!

Cooking with 5 year olds

Today I decided that I would put together a cookbook for my kids to give to there parents as Christmas gifts. I knew it would be funny but it was REALLY hard to keep a straight face while they were telling me how to make their favorite food. Here are some of my favorite comments that I can remember. I hope you enjoy them!

Quesadilla
"I don't really know how to make them but you put cheese on one of those things with the brown spots on them. Then you cook it in a pan on hot until its done then you eat it. Just so you know that's a Mexicans food".

Spaghetti (I love the random thoughts in this one)
"You take that red sauce and you put it on some noodles. We like to make cookies for Santa. You take the dough and put it in a pan and squish it down then you bake it on 7 for like 8 minutes. Then we put it on a plate and make milk for Santa too. My Mom makes the best food it's mashed potatoes and like some meat maybe chicken or something and then some gravy and some corn and a little bit of applesauce. It is so good I like can't stop eating it."

Chocolate chip cookies
"You take chocolate chips and that dough that comes in a bag and you mix them together and then you cook them I don't really know for how long but it's good".

Cereal
"You take that cereal that has the rainbows in it cause that's what I have at my house right now. You put milk on it and then you eat it. That's the junk those marshmallow's are ya know."

One kid told me that he uses "that play dough dough" for his cookies. Doesn't that sound good. I asked another boy how long I should cook his cookies and he said "you cook them while you take a nap so how ever long that is. Then when you wake up you eat them".

I have some more and I will post them when I bring them all home to type them. I can't wait to see the finished product. I hope the parents love it as much as I do.

Halloween 2008

This is the kiddies last night. Averie was Dorothy, Maddux was Superman, and Malie at the last minute decided to be a princess which we had nothing for except this dress in her dress up clothes. We put Maddux in the wagon, left Wayne at home to pass out Play dough (yes that is what we give out. It's the Kindergarten teacher in me that makes me do it). Maddux was thinking everyone was crazy in their costumes. When we got to the bottom of the street Averie had to go to the bathroom so we had to go back home and then head out again. They had fun and got plenty of candy. I tried to take a picture of Maddux without his Binky but every time I took it out he ran away. Now Averie has red glitter shoes that I am sure I will have to fight with her everyday not to wear everywhere we go.

Malie went to school as a witch and was so happy ( you can't tell from the picture). I think when she saw all the girls as princess's she changed her mind. I thought she looked so cute with Averie as Dorothy but what do I know.

I also was a witch. My mom found the hat at Gardner Village and it inspired her outfit for me. Every year she comes to my house and brings me my outfit. Yes she sews the whole thing!! She knows if she doesn't I will just wear my PJ's and put my hair in curlers and go as a grandma like I did the first year. I also had an orange and black feather boa but it covered up the costume in the picture so I took it off. Thanks Mom I will add it to the Tooth Fairy costume you did last year and in a few years I will have enough to just rotate them every year.

We carve pumpkins on Thursday and this is them. The girls drew on the face they wanted and Wayne carved it. Then they fought over who's was more scary.

Maddux thought the lid to the pumpkin was to eat so he kept pulling off chunks and eating them. I figured he was eating a vegetable so I just let him. The older the kids get the better the holidays get. Now I can't wait for Christmas. So is Averie she asked today if when she goes to sleep tonight if Santa was coming.
